I don’t think anybody realizes how dependent on books, and movies, and TV shows, and fictional places and things I am.
i love the term “bear with me” because it could mean either 1 of 2 things:
- asking someone to be patient
- confirmation that the zoo heist was a success
Someone over at the ASOIAF reddit pointed something out that I guess I missed the first time I read A Dance with Dragons. At the point where the wildlings are being let through the Wall, they are forced to give up their valuables so that they can be sold to buy more food for all the new mouths to feed. Jon observes some of the items being turned in:
“Amber pendants, golden torques, jeweled daggers, silver brooches set with gemstones, bracelets, rings, niello cups and golden goblets, warhorns and drinking horns, a green jade comb, a necklace of freshwater pearls…all yielded up and noted down by Bowen Marsh.”
"And there were queerer things: a toy mammoth made of actual mammoth hair, an ivory phallus…”
Apparently someone handed in their mammoth tusk dildo with the other valuables to the Night’s Watch. Tough, man.
Brienne of Tarth, A Feast for Crows.
Now I, like every other A Song of Ice and Fire reader, reads way too much into every little thing, but I still wonder…
SIRIUS FLIRTING WITH LITERALLY EVERY TEACHER TRYING (and failing) TO GET OUT OF DETENTION
He tried it with Dumbledore once and the man laughed so hard it almost worked, but then McGonagall came around the corner. Sirius brags until his dying day that he once seduced Dumbledore himself.
James never actually believes him until one day Sirius gives Dumbledore this huge dramatic wink and then Dumbledore winks back.
James stands up and walks out of the great hall.
